Mediation

Due to the nature of the mediation work we are unable to provide a specific case study.

In general we have found that Mediation has been successful when both parties' i.e. young person and parents have agreed to meet in a safe environment to express their side of the story as they see it.

They have benefitted from being listened to and able to speak out what they have been feeling with the mediators facilitating the process. A typical example would be parents frustrated with their teenager for not engaging with the family and mistreating the home. The young person is frustrated because they feel that they are not being listened to and they are not being allowed to make the move into young adulthood.

The success of the mediation service is measured by the young person and parents being able to come to an agreement and the young person remaining in the family home, thus preventing the young person from becoming homeless.

Mediation is also available for all parties involved in the conflict this may be siblings or grandparents.

Thus far the mediation has achieved a 97% success rate.
